Mozilla Thunderbird and iNODE™ Groupware Synchronization

Plugin Installation

The first step required in synchronizing the Thunderbird email client with iNODE™ Groupware is the installation of two thunderbird plugins. The first one is Lightning, which is the calendar extension for Mozilla Thunderbird. The second plugin needed is the Funambol Mozilla Plugin which is a Mozilla plugin that allows the synchronization of calendar(s) and address book between Mozilla Suite and iNODE™ Groupware.

Lightning plugin can be obtained from the following url:

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/

Funambol plugin can be obtained from the following url:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sync4jmozilla

After successful installation of both plugins you should be able to access your calendar through a small toolbar at the bottom left corner of Thunderbird.

In Calendar Mode you should be able to see a Synchronize button on the toolbar:

Plugin Configuration

After installing bath plugins you should configure them for use with iNODE™ Groupware. Please follow the following steps:

1. From the main menu select Tools -> Options. You should be able to see the two additional tabs named Lightning and Funambol. From Lightning options just select the Timezone tab and specify your local timezone in case it has not been detected automatically. Setup the rest Lightning options at your preference.

2. Select the Funambol Options Tab and select the Account tab:

3. Enter http://<iNODE hostname or address>/rpc.php on Server URL. Please ask your Administrator for your iNODE ™ hostname or address. Also enter your iNODE™ user account name and password on the other fields.

4. Click on the Synchronize tab:

Select the items you want to be synchronized between Thunderbird and iNODE™ Groupware and then click on Details...

5. On Contacts Details options select the Address book to sync and in the ''Remote name'' setting enter contacts.

6. On Calendar Details options select the Calendar to sync and in the ''Remote name'' setting enter calendar.
